Strolling in the paddock at this year’s Festival of Speed you would have seen many famous faces, but two of them were particularly likely to have caught your attention: Italian legendary driver Nino Vaccarell and… international supermodel Jodie Kidd. They are the faces of yesterday’s and today’s Maserati.

Supermodel and Ferrari test driver....What a surprise

Vaccarella, one of the most famous Maserati racing drivers of the past, took part in this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed driving the very same car he raced some 40 years ago at the Le Mans 24 hours race. Nino Vaccarella was at the wheel of a Maserati Birdcage Tipo 63, while Matteo Panini, who looks after the Maserati Museum with the support of Maserati S.p.A. drove the Maserati Eldorado.

Kidd getting that need for speed

International Supermodel Jodie Kidd was invited to take part in the Supercar Run at the Festival of Speed with her own Maserati Spyder. A keen driver, as well as an excellent polo player, Jodie has recently proven her driving skills on national television, by breaking the Top Gear racetrack record.

Hey.....boyfriend with helmet & driver without!!

She’s very fond of the Festival, as she told the media “It’s my second year at the Goodwood Festival of Speed and I absolutely adore it. I can’t wait to exploit all 390 bhp of my Spyder going up the Goodwood hill, on a safe track and with no chance of getting a speeding ticket! It’s fascinating to see cars from such different eras all together”.

When you go to a museum - she continued - you just see the cars in a static display. You don’t hear the engine’s roar or see them sliding around corners, which is something you get at Goodwood. It’s like a fabulous car museum brought to life”.
