Notice the lower windshield "A" pillar

Yes we can say we great confidence this Mustang 2005 convertible is the most fun we have had in a long time. Thanks to our good friends at Ford's western public relations group for making a day or driving in this red rocket was on the only day of sunshine we have seen in southern california in about 3 weeks of endless drenching rain. So when we got the phone call, needless to say we jumped at the chance.

The first thing you notice when you get in the 2005 convertible is the dramaticly lower windshield, it sets off the styling statement and makes this new sun lovers Mustang a real head turner. Not to mention the killer red on red combination. So they threw us the keys and off we went. Any convertible is judged by two things for everyday drivers.

Lots of Lush "Red" Leather

The first is how much wind roar you get in the top down mode. Nice to say that with the top down, windows up the wind noise is almost nill. We were able to carry on conversations without the need to even raise our voices.  You have to get over 75 MPH before the wind noise shows up. This allows you to listen to the very deep and throaty V8, which for us almost wipes out the need to a stereo system. All though most buyers will probably want to use the 500 watt sound system to attract the attention of general public when cruising the beach.

WE can not stress enough the high level of luxury of the new leather interiors provided at Ford, and it really screams quality when you see it in this Mustang with the top down. Driving anywhere in the San Diego area, along the beach front or blowing by other cars on the freeway. People just are unable to ignore the stunning visual appeal and the sound of that V8 !!  We saw several twisted necks at every intersection! Our Mustang , with that stunning red leather and sound system was a suggested price of $31,500.

Also there is a V6 convertible Mustang that is priced at about $25,500

Put your foot into the 5 speed stick shift with this V8 and you fly. The motor is just so strong you don't even think of down shifting going up the steepest hills. The traction control and rocket launches from any stop light require not talent or experience. As any of our readers knows convertibles do not have the same level of stiffness as a coupe. But the platform of the 2005 convertible is seriously stronger than the 2004 model. So when it comes to cornering the Mustang convertible sticks like glue! The V8 Mustang feels like a real Boxster eater and will be stalking GTO's everywhere.

New Z-Top design folds neatly sans boot!

So here we have a real world performance pony car that has high value added pricing point. Add that to a great collectable brand like Mustang and it's 40 years of history. What you get is lots of fun and future american classic ready for delivery. It's really that good. We highly suggest to anyone considering a convertible sports car the 2005 Mustang is a must test drive. Drive this before you drive anything else.

Top up a low sleek and quite interior at any speed!

Stay tuned as we will be testing the V6 with the five speed stick very soon. Also for all our readers in Europe, the Mustang will be an even better deal on European roads in the current Dollar to Euro price market. Compare the price of the Boxster to the Mustang, it's a no brainer!
