From YourSITE.com Auto Shows In a time when Cadillac Escalades, Chrysler 300M’s, and AMG Mercedes, rolling on insanely large 24" chrome rims, reign king with the hip-hop crowd, the designers at Saab decided to join the party by teaming up with DUB to create one hot looking version of their 9-7X that instantly looks to have some serious "street cred." The Saab 9-7X Aero Concept was recently shown off at the Specialty Equipment Manufactures Association (SEMA) trade show in Las Vegas, Nevada. Take a look at the exterior and what is immediately noticeable is the tasteful three inch lowered ride height and those beautiful 24-inch custom fabricated "Aero X" wheels and 275/30 Pirelli tires. Not only are the rims ridiculously large, as they should be, but the turbine-like spokes clearly reflect Saab’s aircraft heritage and their recent mantra of "Born from Jets." The custom front fender with the subtle chrome lower lip and honeycomb grill along with the window and tail light tint further enhance the look of this concept vehicle. To finish off the changes to the exterior and add a bit of a performance edge, a Borla exhaust system was also installed. Of course, in order to be a true player in the hip hop world, big rims and a body kit isn’t enough to claim fame to a pimp ride. A tricked out interior is just as important. The team from Saab and DUB didn’t disappoint. First of all the interior has been reupholstered with suede and leather, but most important of all, there are LCD screens inside, and plenty of them too. Starting with the sound system, the stock head unit is replaced with a double-DIN DVD/TV head unit. The are four 7-inch seat-mounted screens along with a larger 15-inch flip down LCD center screen in case you have a bad case of myopia. And to ensure that your friends can hear you coming down the street from a couple blocks away, two amplifiers and two 12-inch sub woofers with a custom box enclosure provide all the low frequency bass you need. This is one good looking concept that could really grab the attention of those looking for a unique kind of ride with the right amount of bling. Saab has not announced whether or not this concept will become an actual production model. Keep the beautiful rims, the tasteful trim pieces and drop in GM’s 6.0L LS2 V8 from the Trailblazer SS and Saab will have a sled that will make some noise and get the hip-hop crowd thinking twice about going with same ol’ Escalade. © Copyright 2001 by YourSITE.com |
